International Relations

National Agricultural University of Ukraine started its international activities in 1950, when a group of students from China, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, and Bulgaria came to study to the Kyiv Agricultural Institute. The first foreign student, who graduated NAUU in 1953, was Damian Leviu (Romania), now a Professor of the Bucharest University.

Since that time more than 3000 foreign students from 89 countries all over the world have graduated from the University. More than 400 of them have got scientific degree of candidate of sciences, 100 graduates have defended doctor’s thesis. NAUU’s alumni are working as directors of agricultural companies, heads of units of research institutions, senior researchers, officers of the ministries and governmental agencies.

Many of NAUU alumni are not just at the high executive ladder, but also take an active part in public life of their home countries. The cooperation with Iowa State University, especially within the USIA-funded Linkage Project, has resulted into adaptation of NAUU curricula and syllabi and modification its administrative system. The most important outcome of the cooperation with ISU, as well as with Louisiana State University was signing memorandums of understanding, one of the main clauses of which was as recognizing comparability between the system of education and standards of Iowa and Louisiana State Universities and the National Agricultural University of Ukraine.

The many years’ collaboration with Humboldt University of Berlin (Germany) and Ghent University (Belgium), specifically within the Joint EU TEMPUS/TACIS Project "Food quality: from soil to consumer", has also resulted into signing memorandums of understanding with the above-mentioned universities (2002).

In 2004 in Germany the representatives of partner-Universities and of the Ministries of Education of Ukraine and Germany accredited the international Master Course "Administrative Management" in which the NAUU students participate.
