National Agricultural University is one of the leading centers for agricultural education, research and culture in Ukraine. More than 27 thousand students study at its 20 Faculties and 6 Regional Higher Educational Establishments.
The activity of NAUU is aimed at the satisfying the educational requirements of individuals, society and the state according to the Constitution of Ukraine and its laws “On Education”, “On Higher Education”, “Regulations for Higher Educational Establishments”, “Regulations for Educational Process Organization in Higher Educational Establishments”.
NAU does not provide religious education. It is protected from intrusion of any political party, or any social or religious organizations.
The concept of educational activities at NAU is defined by the university's status as a higher education establishment for agriculture. The principal objective of the university is its ultimate integration into the world educational system and getting international acknowledgement.
As a higher educational establishment of the fourth level of accreditation, NAUU has the right to train specialists in different areas and specialties and award the following degrees: -
junior Specialist (19 Specialties);

bachelor (18 Areas of Study);

specialist (29 Specialties and 51 Specializations);
-
master (30 Specialties and more than 80 Programs).
The main educational objectives of the educational activity of University are: -
to create conditions to develop each student's intellectual activity, skills and gifts to reconstitute the society’s intellectual potential;

to develop professional knowledge and skills of each student above the level required by the state for “Specialist”;

to give the understanding of national and world culture to each specialist who is going to work under free-market conditions to be socially mature and physically sound;

to engage students in research in the areas of agriculture and forestry, to solve social and economic problems for rural development, and to implement scientific innovations into production;
-
to train, retrain and improve qualification and skills of the faculty and specialists in agriculture and forestry;
-
to prepare and publish manuals, study guides and other scientific and methodological literature;
-
to spread scientific and technical knowledge and advanced experience among the workers of agricultural sector of the economy; to improve their educational and professional levels.
The concept of educational activity of NAUU is based on the following principles: -
availability of higher agricultural education for people who satisfy the demands of professional selection (competition) taking into account the privileges to young people from rural areas and those living in the Chernobyl polluted zone;

creating equal conditions for each student, master, and post-graduate student with the purpose of realization of their skills and gifts, their individual development and improvement as personalities;

providing openness of this educational establishment, creating prerequisites to choose the form and type of education;

prioritizing the social, humanistic and democratic values in education;

providing logical unity and continuity of education, its integration with science and production;

maintaining the education level in accordance with international standards;
-
promoting competitiveness in engaging the university faculty including the heads of its subdivisions, deans, professors.
The educational process at NAUU is based on a systematic approach and the principle of interconnection among the training subjects to develop in students broad-outlook, nonstandard ways of thinking, ability to solve general problems in production as well as social and economic problems being mutually united.
Pedagogical process is a constituent part of education. It includes education of future specialists taking into consideration the best traditions and customs of national and world culture as well as priorities that are common to all mankind, programs on recreation and development of the national economy, culture, science, spiritual unity of the nation and the peoples of Ukraine.
One of the determining directions of strategic goal realization of a higher educational establishment is the creation of principally new arrangement of mutual interaction of all participants of education. It is based on the principle of their interests’ unity, pedagogical abilities and personal wants and needs.
National Agricultural University is a scientific and methodological institution of higher agricultural education that provides drafting and publishing co-ordination of textbooks, manuals, study guides and materials. Six educational and methodological commissions under the Ministry of Agricultural Policy of Ukraine function on its basis.
The main targets of scientific and methodological work in the context of agrarian educational gradual system realization are: -
to develop a model of a specialist of the 21st century and requirements for his/her level of professional knowledge, self-determination ability and functioning under free-market conditions as well as self-development;

to create scientific and methodological complexes of specialties and scientific complexes of disciplines on the bases of advanced pedagogical technologies and corresponding educational laboratory facilities;

to provide conditions to meet the requirements of the state license and educational standards;

to define the content and forms of educational activity at different levels of specialists’ training and their attestation;
-
to study the content and distinctive features of graduates’ work in order to make some changes and additions to programs’ content and to educational process organization;

to work out the principles and forms of a rating system, grading criteria, tests for professional knowledge, abilities and skills’ evaluation;
-
to master new systems of informational provision of educational process.
